What is a credit score and how do I increase it?

I'm 19. I've had my bank of america student credit card for 5 months now, but I ALWAYS pay off the full balance after each statement is issued. I have never paid just the minimum, because I don't see the point of it... why pay more money than I owe?

Anyways, I heard someone say that my credit score goes up ONLY when I make the minimum monthly payments. Is this true?

Answer
There is only one way to get top 800+ scores.
Use your credit card for little things and pay in full each month.
This way you never pay interest - and get amazing scores.

It is 100% myth that carrying balances is good for you.
Something ladies that watch QVC all day in their trailers will tell you.

Speaking from experience and lots of education.
Carrying balances only hurts your credit - in no way does it ever help it.
